Immigrant Women & Children Building Resilience Together

EMBRACE is an on-going, open-format group program that provides psychosocial and practical support to immigrant women impacted by domestic abuse.

EMBRACE is open to past or current SHADE clients from other programming. We also accept new participants. If you are an immigrant women impacted by domestic abuse, contact us.

​

Participants can attend as little or often as they want: there are no commitments. The programming content of EMBRACE is based on the dynamic needs of group participants and requests from participants.

Group Psychosocial Counselling

  • Group trauma healing

  • Building friendships

  • Art and music therapy

  • Emotional intelligence coaching

  • Group social activities and events

  • Art, music, and yoga therapy

 

Group Practical Supports

  • Learning how to use rent assist forms

  • Guest speakers:

    • Legal Aid

    • Winnipeg Police Domestic Violence Unit

    • Others

  • Budgeting and money management

  • Financial planning

  • Sexual health

  • Applying for jobs

  • Form-filling:

    • Rent Assist

    • End Homelessness Winnipeg

    • Childcare Subsidy

    • Many others

  • Social media privacy and safety

  • Other practical supports responding to the dynamic needs of the group
